The 1st Day of the Rest of My Life

Watched Forks Over Knives last night and might have become a convert. Committed to the idea of a whole foods plant based diet BUT the fridge, freezer and cupboards contain items out of that category. I will see how weaning myself off animal based foods works out.

Started the morning with 1/2 a raw carrot as I joined the dogs in breaking the fast. Slipped in Greek Yogurt with Hemp Granola and a banana. Dairy has the risk of turning on Cancer. In modest amounts it's not a risk. It is not clear where that point is for me.

Eggplant dipped in flour, egg and Panko and fried in olive oil to a crisp brown.
2 slices lightly salted, peppered and sprinkled with granulated garlic.
Sliced Cheddar on Oat Nut Bread.

Took myself out to the Pearl House Restaurant for Moo Goo Gai Pan. Excellent and cheap and enough for two meals.

Maybe it's Too Early to Make a Plan

For starters I think I'll eat a bowl of Pumpkin Granola and maybe make some toast

Pancake Circus is on the tentative agenda -- I'm thinking Pigs in a Blanket but first I want to see the menu.

Belgian Waffle with a poached egg and bacon.

Then there's the beans. They appeal to me most today.

Ended up skipping dinner and that's a good thing. Just not hungry after Brunch.

Anasazi Beans

I discovered these ancient beans from Colorado a few years ago. They remind me of Pinto Beans but they are a bit different. Among the best I have ever eaten they have a wonderfully soft texture and a taste all their own. This morning I put a pot on the stove. By lunch time I should have a wonderful bean soup to eat with some Trader Joe's corn bread and a green salad.
