For roughly 20 years I have been displaying the symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome. No medical practitioner has ever named it and other than a couple of Nurse Practitioners recommending getting the 'white stuff' out of the kitchen and/or following a low glycemic diet and increasing my daily steps (getting more exercise) the doctor is not urging this 76 year old woman to do anything about my daily diet except to make sure I'm getting my Omega 3s and Probiotics.
This morning, as I watched a doctor on PBS talking about proactive eating to protect your heart's aging process, I heard for the first time that Metabolic Syndrome requires eliminating all refined carbs from our diet. This is after I bought the freshly baked bagel and a loaf of Marble Rye.
I am currently exploring my options for controlling Gall Bladder issues and from what I've learned in the past few days I believe a few modifications might also solve other issues like weight control and metabolic syndrome.
We shall see what we shall see.
You might notice some changes but I am mostly being good about my eating.
